1. Marking Time

Each and every painting is a time battery. its appreception could consume a lifetime.

At MOMA, visitors move from painting to painting taking pictures with their cell phones. 미술관에서 회화 작품을 보고 사람들은 그것을 사진으로 찍어서 보관하는데, 이것은 회화 작품을 digital image로 재포맷하는 일이다. 

The art world, in all of its formats, has become a vast accumulation of potential energy whose enormous reserves are beyond the capacities of any individual to consume. It is a giant reservoir of deferred experience. 

Unlike those visual media that store time explicitly, such as film, video, and performance, or photographs, in painting the marking and storage, or accumulation of time are simultaneous and ongoing. Painting is LIVE : a live medium. It is now On the Air, as opposed to plain air. 시간을 순간적으로 포착하는 다른 매체와 달리, 페인팅은 현재 진행 형이기에, 살아있는 매체라고 할 수 있다. 

Every painting stores an exorbitant stockpile of affect. 

I will argue that in painting, marking time and storing affect leads to scoring ecperience, rather than devolving into spectacle. ... how can closed, oppressive forms of accumulation be opposed to a more open form of accumulation characterized by the personal selection or scoring of images? 

2. Scoring

위 작가들의 작품에서는 프레임의 조건에서 이미지의 중심으로, 다시 이미지에서 프레임의 조건들로 쌍방향의 이주가 일어난다. 이미지 순환의 세계에 진입하는 회화로서 말이다. 이러한 회화는 감각을 표지하기 보다는, 세계화와 디지털화의 특징을 이루는 철저하게 공간적 불안을 다룬다. 세계화와 디지털화는 모두 무엇이 가장자리이고 무엇이 중심인지에 대한 심문과 깊이 연관되어 있다. 자신을 뛰어넘는 회화는 어와 같은 심오한 질문을 던진다 : How can one delimit any thing - even that most ostensibly autonomous thing, a painting?  

3. Speculation 

The painters I've discussed speculate in the sense that they incorporate gambits and formats of circulation within their works. 

futurity (미래성) _ 미래에 확실하게 다른 무엇인가를 창안해내는 것. 의심하는 것은 추측의 한 형식이다. 

the question of painting's specificity, which has been historically tied to the notion of medium but is now ready to be reimagined and redefined. Here is my definition of modern painting's specificity. it marks, stores, scores, and speculates on time.
